In the very first episode of The Refated Podcast, I walk you through why this is the must-listen show for astrology lovers who are following all the cosmic rules but still attracting a less-than-dreamy life. I define the term refated, share why I built this brand, and tease what’s to come.

Why this brand exists and who it’s for

Refated is the home for astrology lovers who are done with the cosmic fear-mongering and anxiety that’s so popular in the greater astrology industry. I love this industry so much, and yet I also recognize that it can be very damaging. There's so much fear perpetuated and anxiety-producing content circulated all the time. This show will not be contributing to that.

The Refated brand is the culmination of my entire astrological career, and it's the perfect combination of all of my skillsets. It combines astrology, journaling, movement, visualization, breathwork, somatics, and more into an astrology-powered system for shaping your fate so that you can experience more success, love, adventure, or anything else that your heart desires.

I created this brand and this podcast because, at the time of this episode, I've been a professional astrologer for over 11 years. I've spent those 11 years answering some of the same questions over and over. Questions like:

  • Will this Pluto transit ruin my life?

  • Does my Saturn mean I'm destined to be alone?

  • Is my crappy career planet why I struggle to make rent every month?

Hearing questions like that day in and day out broke my heart, and I knew that answering those questions in one-on-one consultations wasn’t enough. I knew that I needed to bring this cosmic reframing and reorienting work to a greater audience. And so, here we are.

This work exists because I can't stand by anymore and watch my friends, my clients, and my colleagues use astrology to make their lives smaller and smaller. It's like we've constructed a bunch of cosmic rules that we thought were really cool at first—we thought we were “aligned” or whatever, but then one day we woke up and realized we’re miserable and living in a cosmic cage.

This show is for you if you’ve ever…

  • Felt like you don't have what it takes to live up to the potential of your chart

  • Looked at your transits for the day and decided that you might as well go back to bed

  • Left an astrology webinar feeling like a planet was about to wreck your life

  • Compulsively bought another astrology reading hoping that a tenth opinion will make the ache go away

My story

I'm calling these patterns out so clearly (and with so much love) because I lived them. A few years ago, I decided that if I wanted to continue to have astrology in my life, I had to completely rewire my relationship with it. And now, I want to bring you along with me.

In the past, I was the one blaming everything I didn't like on the moon, or every bad mood on Mars, or creating self-fulfilling prophecies with my transits. I’ve been an absolute astrological mess, so it's easy for me to identify and love fellow astrological messes.

All that fear, all that angst, all of that self-fulfilling prophecy mess that I was wrapped up in? Now I see that it had a real purpose. And I'm grateful for it because it made me the perfect person to bring this work to the world.

I know what it feels like to use my astrology chart as a ceiling or as a set of limiting beliefs. And I also know what it feels like to think that I can't live up to my own chart’s potential. That stops now. We're no longer going to be engaging with those thoughts, behaviors, and conditioning.

Defining Refated

So, what does refate, refated, or refating actually mean? Now, I'm sure someone else in the world has used this word, but as far as I know, I’m the first to use it in this context. And I define it as such:

Refate: (verb) to invite a placement in the astrology chart to express constructively via spiritual ritual and embodiment practices.

At first glance, when we typically think of refating, we typically think of wanting to refate a “challenging” planet, a planet that we don't like too much like Saturn or Mars. But refating a planet can also work the other way. You might have a “great” chart or a “great” planet, but it’s not giving you great results. In both cases, the solution is to refate. Many more episodes are coming on the details of how to refate.

What to expect from this show

In The Refated podcast, we're going to explore hard questions like:

  • What is fate anyway?

  • What’s freewill?

  • And what do we believe about the mixture of the two?

  • What did ancient cultures believe about fate?

  • What we modern folks believe about?

  • How do we participate with fate, interact with it, and even shape it?

  • Is a “bad” chart fated to struggle? Do “bad” charts even exist?

Okay, first episode in the books! I’m so glad to have you on this journey with me. It's going to be weird. It's going to be wacky. But it's going to be absolutely liberating.
